I just finished my first 5k in forever! I didn't really want to do it, but Tammy was going and why not. I pushed Mazie in her jogger and had Izzy running along with me. I ran/walked it and finished right at 39 minutes (12:35 min/miles on average). I identified a guy in front of me and decided that I was going to stick to him -- and I did. It felt pretty good to do it.
Things are crazy right now. Perfect storm of too much travel, work and personal -- busy schedule, no workouts, etc. In North Dakota to see family this weekend.
Not much for an update this week. I was in NYC half the week with full schedules. It's been hard to get the workouts in. Pretty flat-lined right now. Not gaining, not losing.
This week wasn't a very good week for me. I had a super bowl weekend filled with splurging. The week started and I had a business trip Wed through Fri that killed my exercise pattern. I really should have worked out on Tuesday night but I knew I was leaving town and I just wanted to spend some time with Tammy hanging out. Oh well, put it all in the past and focus on the next week.
My clothes are loose and I'm feeling good about the weight loss to date. However, I have to remember that I have a lot more to do. I need to stay focused and on task. However, I still feel really good about not going over the top and getting ridiculous.
Off to the gym tomorrow morning to workout with my trainer. I've gotta get a 2nd training session on the calendar -- maybe I can get that setup tomorrow.
I was so ridiculously sore today! Walked around like a gimp today. Got on the treadmill tonight and I could barely walk at 2.5 mph in the beginning. It took 13 minutes for me to work my way up to 4.0 mph.
I ate really goofy today. Really felt gross tonight and my workout was really hard due to both the combination of ridiculously sore legs and a stomach that felt like crap. But I got it done nonetheless!
Don't have much time this morning for an update. Hard week for training program with a business trip to NY. Flying super early and full days of meetings with full nights of dinners made workouts not happen on Tuesday and Wednesday, and of course diet to be not great with the dinners. Couple of special events.
However, on Monday I had a hydrostatic weight taken to get a true body fat percentage and that morning I am really pleased with my progress to date.
This was a hard week. It was hard for three reasons. First, I came off a vacation where I was having fun (really) working out twice a day and really focusing. It's so nice to be able to do that, just not realistic in any way. Second, it was my birthday week (much celebration) and there was a lot of eating out and splurging. On top of that, my first real day "back in the saddle" I got deathly sick and had a biz dinner the next night. So much to trip up my routine.
However, due to working out so much during the break I actually lost weight even with all the eating out and splurging, and I got my hour of cardio work in the last two nights and felt good. Things are continuing to go well!
I was deathly ill yesterday. Ended up sleeping over a dozen hours and felt miserable. 75% recovered today, was able to work and all, but no exercise. On the plus side I ate nothing for about 36 hours. :-)
Nice work Jamie! 299 in sight. Then before you know it, 287, then 274. Go get em!

Just did 50 minutes on my spin bike at home. First time that thing has been used for probably over a year! Felt really good. Metallica went on the ride with me.
I'm not sure how this weeks report will look. Christmas festivities were good and I accurately recorded my intakes and such through the holiday, for good and worse. I weighed myself in this morning since it is Thursday. Tammy told me not to since I knew it was going to be whacked with travel. But, if you weigh in on Monday and Thursday you have to weigh in on Monday and Thursday as long as you can. Never trust a foreign scale, so if I'm traveling I don't but if I'm at home I do.
I expect my Monday number to be much better. On other numbers, my body fat percentage is dropping and my pants are feeling looser. Most importantly I'm feeling like I'm getting stronger from my workouts and approaching them with more vigor.
My weigh in this morning was a bit of a surprise. I expected to be about 2 or 3 lbs higher. 301 is great. Should be in the two hundreds pretty soon. I'm doing a great job with food and with working out. I'm mostly doing cardio still and I know I need to kick in some more weight training. The once a week at the gym just isn't enough. However, I'm still happy to be consistently working out.
I'm feeling strong going into Christmas and New Years. I'm going to allow myself some holiday cheer, but all in moderation. It will be hard to get workouts in. May have to just do a lot of walking or something. We'll see... at least two days are shot just driving.
Did my Monday weigh in this a.m. and validated my concerns from 12/14 about the last one. Today's weigh in is definitely more accurate. I'm also suffering from some severe stiffness in my legs from my Saturday workout.
It's hard to not want to progress faster and log my food to the gram and get crazy.
Wow! Killer workout at the gym this morning with my trainer Mike 2. Good stuff though. Really hammered legs and then gave the upper body a pyramid of fun. Good stuff. Lots of noise. :-)
This mornings weigh in seemed very wrong to me, but I repeated it 4 times and got the same information everytime. My weight was down way more than makes sense, losing around 4.5 lbs since Monday. My body fat was at the same time up a couple of percent. We'll see what it says next Monday.
I've decided to change my weigh-in routine from 1x a week to 2x. I'll be weighing in on Monday and Thursday. Still following my same routine of weighing in first thing when waking up.
Just got done with, what has thus far been a very rare, morning workout. I need to get more of these in. Tough Mon and Tue filled with business activities all-day and all-night so I didn't get any workouts in on those days.

It's my birthday. Don't freak out if you see some splurge food days.
For those that are math impaired, 299 < 300. Hope to not see a first digit of 3 ever again.
